New covered walkways to Olgilvie Transportation Center and the CTA Blue line are needed to facilitate easier connections from intercity trains to commuter trains, transit, CTA buses, and intercity buses.
It may be possible to create a direct connection to Olgilvie with a new passageway alongside Union Station's Track 1 via an elevator to the concourse level in the 2 North Riverside Plaza (the former Daily News Building).
Likewise, it may be possible to extend the current parking garage tunnel from Union Station to the Amtrak parking garage (in the block south of the Union Station waiting room building) further south to the CTA Blue Line station at Clinton Street. This connection would also serve the City's proposed intermodal center just south of Union Station.
